Four Season Room Conversion in Lower Macungie, PA

This enclosed porch in Lower Macungie, PA was rundown, drafty and only usable a few months a year. We rebuilt it into a fully insulated four season room (Florida room) with a vaulted ceiling, tall new windows, LVP floors and a Daikin mini split for heating and cooling, so it can be enjoyed all year.

Where we started

The old porch had 2x4 walls with no real insulation, worn wood windows, a low flat ceiling and a bare concrete floor.

A bright, vaulted room that feels like the outdoors

We removed the old ceiling and opened it up into a vaulted ceiling, which makes the space feel much bigger. New, taller windows have custom window jambs and sills, so it feels like you are sitting outside.

We added a new entrance door, Mohawk 8" x 5' LVP flooring, recessed lighting and a 12,000 BTU high-efficiency Daikin mini split for heating and cooling.

Built right behind the walls

We tore out the existing 2x4 exterior walls and replaced them with 2x6 walls and proper insulation. We built a new subfloor over the slab so the floor could be insulated, and added 2x8 rafters to make room for closed-cell spray foam in the vaulted ceiling.

We also installed a new 100 amp sub panel and ran power to the mini split.

Outside: T1-11, gutters and new concrete steps

The outside of the room is wrapped in waterproof T1-11 siding with a new seamless white gutter. We poured two new concrete steps: one into the four season room and one at the back entrance of the house.
